What happens during an alarm service visit

During an alarm service visit our alarm engineer will perform the following tasks:

  • Check history of alarm system since last maintenance service
  • Carry out a full visual inspection of all the major alarm components including cabling and connections (where accessible) for signs of deterioration (e.g. damp) or damage (e.g. from rodents)
  • Check and walk-test all detectors to ensure they all report back to the central control panel
  • Check operation of manually operated devices e.g. panic buttons
  • Check and test remote signalling equipment (if installed, such as SMS text messaging or DualCom communication to a monitoring station)
  • Make programming adjustments if necessary, or reposition detectors if requirements have changed (additional costs may apply)
  • Repair minor faults where necessary (additional costs may apply)
  • Retrain the users on the use of the alarm system (if required)
  • Check health of battery (Battery Load Test) to ensure that it is capable of supporting the whole system in the event of a power cut
  • Return the alarm system to operational status
