Analogue versus IP Camera Resolution

Camera Resolutions
Analogue Cameras
The maximum resolution available on an analogue surveillance system is limited to D1 resolution which is 720 x 576 pixels (PAL) or equivilent to 0.4 megapixel. Even if a higher resolution camera (such as a 700 TVL camera with a resolution of 1020 x 596 pixels) is used, after the video signal has been digitized in a digital video recorder it will still only display and record at D1 resolution. The image below shows the range of availble resolutions, the maximum of which is D1 (720 x 576).
